1. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to BabyAI ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application BabyAI (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Baby Profile Information:

  • Baby's name
  • Baby's date of birth
  • Any notes or additional information you choose to enter

Sleep and Feeding Logs:

  • Sleep session data (start time, end time, type: nap or night)
  • Feeding session data (type: breast, formula, or solids, time, amount, notes)
  • Any notes you add to logs

2.2 Information Collected Automatically (Advertising and Tracking)

The App displays ads via Google AdMob. To support this:

  • On iOS, we may ask for your permission to allow the App to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency, ATT). If you grant permission, data collected from this app—including your device's advertising identifier (IDFA)—will be used for tracking purposes as defined by Apple. Our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may use this data to deliver personalized ads, measure ad performance, and to track your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes. If you deny permission, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant (non-personalized) and we do not use your data for tracking.
  • We do not collect or store your advertising identifier on our own servers. Any use of the advertising identifier and tracking is handled by Google AdMob in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
  • We do not collect from your device for our own use: location data or other personal identifiers.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information you provide solely to:

  • Provide the core functionality of the App (tracking sleep and feeding)
  • Generate personalized insights and analytics based on your logged data
  • Provide AI-powered parenting guidance based on your baby's age and patterns
  • Store your preferences and settings locally on your device

4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

4.1 Local Storage

All data you enter into the App is stored locally on your device using:

  • SQLite database for structured data (baby profiles, logs)
  • AsyncStorage for app preferences and settings

4.2 No Cloud Storage

We do not store your data on our servers or in the cloud. All data remains on your device.

4.3 Data Security

While we implement reasonable security measures for local data storage, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device.

5. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do NOT:

  • Sell your personal data (baby profiles, logs, etc.) to third parties
  • Use your baby or log data for marketing or tracking

When you grant the optional tracking permission on iOS (ATT), our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may use your device's advertising identifier for personalized ads and for tracking purposes as defined by Apple. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. See Section 2.2 for details.

5.1 Third-Party Services

Advertising (Google AdMob):

  • The App displays ads via Google AdMob. If you grant tracking permission on iOS, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier for personalized ads and for tracking across apps and websites. AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • You can opt out of personalized ads and limit tracking via your device settings (e.g., iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).

OpenAI API:

  • When you use the AI chat feature, your questions and relevant context (baby's age, sleep/feeding patterns) are sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses
  • We do not store your chat conversations
  • OpenAI's use of data is governed by their privacy policy: https://openai.com/privacy

5.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our App is designed for parents to track information about their babies. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is intended for use by parents and guardians only.

7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

7.1 Access and Deletion

You have full control over your data:

  • You can view all your data within the App
  • You can delete baby profiles and logs at any time
  • You can delete the App, which will remove all local data (subject to your device's backup settings)

7.2 Data Export

Currently, the App does not provide a built-in data export feature. All data is stored locally on your device.

8. DATA RETENTION

Your data is retained on your device until you:

  • Delete specific entries within the App
  • Delete the App from your device
  • Clear the App's data through your device settings

We do not retain copies of your data after you delete it from the App.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

When you use the AI chat feature, your queries may be processed by OpenAI, which may involve data transfers outside your country of residence. By using the AI features, you consent to such transfers.

10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

11. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected
  • Know whether your personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom
  • Access your personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt-out of the sale of personal information

Since we do not sell or share your personal information, these rights are primarily exercised through your control over the local data on your device.
